Job Description:

LDI mine is looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our technical services team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, you will work a 2 week on/2 week off schedule at the Lac des Iles Mine site. You will also possess a good understanding of principles of mine ventilation and gases in mines. You will be involved in underground development and surface surveys and you will be responsible for ground control instruments installation and collecting geotechnical data as required.
Responsible to provide quality technical support to the underground in the area of ventilation
Analyze air flows and gas levels to ensure regulatory compliance
Issue weekly ventilation report.
Communicate ventilation deficiencies to the appropriate mine personnel
Assist with ventilation planning and design for underground excavations
Care and control (including purchasing) of ventilation instruments
Order ventilation fans and equipment.
Keep up to date inventories
Lead the future automation of fans and gas detectors using PLC's.
Maintain fire and escape route plans
Ventilation modeling
Miscellaneous duties reasonable and beneficial as the department requires

Qualifications:

Diploma in mining Technology
Two (2) or more years work experience
Proficient with technical computer programs, technical writing, and experience in all office based software, and a strong ability to conduct data analysis. High attention to detail, effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and attentive to time management
Ability to work independent, self-motivated, dependable, responsible and flexible. Ability to work effectively on a team, assess problems promptly and resolve or inform supervisor where appropriate
Work is a mix between field and office environment. Daily exposure to the mine, working both in the office and outdoors. Brief exposure to noise and dust.
Compliance to Impala Canada safety, health and environmental policies and systems. Assure adherence to the highest standards of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for myself and my team
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Ventsim and Microsoft Office suites.
