Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. Mine/Drill Trainer

Schedule: Shift 7/7 – 12-hour shifts.

Position Reports To: Mine Training Supervisor

Duration: 6 Months

Position Overview

Reporting to the Mine Training Supervisor, the role of a Mine Trainer is to ensure that all Mine Ops/TMA and Utility employees etc. have the necessary training required to perform their duties. Determine training requirements, develop and maintain training courses, manuals, materials and evaluation procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine training needs or development requirements. Knowledge of Bench Strengths.
  • Identify training matrix gaps and determine a method to fill them.
  • Mentor experienced employees who are providing additional coaching.
  • Assist in development, implementation and continued application of Computer Based Training (CBT) program and evaluation of learnings.
  • Facilitate and conduct new hire orientations, and Common Core Programs.
  • Provide internal and external training.
  • Prepare required training modules, SOPS consistent with applicable legislation, and company policies
  • Monitor all employees and conduct evaluations as per the progression system.
  • Provide and / or coordinate follow-up training for employees.
  • Ensure all employees have been properly signed off for equipment as per the evaluation packages.
  • Maintain accurate employee files and Ensure all files are complete, consistent with applicable Labour Standards
  • Work with the Safety team and other departments to establish training procedures to be used throughout the mine site.


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, LMS and Smart Sheet etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with both internal and external contacts
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Maintain awareness of mining processes and best practices as they relate to department responsibilities.
  • Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions
