About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor to play a critical role in leading a team of experienced Warehouse Officers to ensure safety, production and operational efficiency targets are met whilst delivering continuous improvement to our Weipa Operation.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and a 'can do' attitude to lead, support and mentor this operational team. Working with and reporting to the Superintendent Inbound Logistics, you will be:
  • Leading the team of Warehouse Officers towards achieving an interdependent safety culture by utilizing daily shift starts, safety interactions, human performance and critical risk management tools
  • Maintaining a strong level of control over the stock count and accuracy of all documentation. This involves full adherence to internal controls and procedures
  • Identify and eliminate waste (including over servicing, over stocking, incorrect fulfillment, packaging and handling)
  • Developing and implementing annual plans and budgets
  • Coordinating team activities that deliver value and include working towards establishing a strong, accurate focus
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships, integration & alignment with stakeholders including operations, Maintenance, Planning, Scheduling and Supply Chain

What you will bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Previous Leadership experience working in a highly regulated operational environment
  • Ability to react and adjust to changing conditions and priorities in a live operation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
  • HR and forklift licenses
  • Prior experience working within a fast paced warehouse site operation
  • Good problem-solving skills and strives for continuous improvement
  • Intermediate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office suite applications as well as SAP, (in particular, the Warehousing module).

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Relevant materials management qualifications or similar
  • Prior experience working for a transport/logistics operation
  • HC License.

Where you will be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforceincluding 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
