Job Title: Sr Process Engineer or Sr Metallurgist or Sr Chemical Engineer

Purpose:

•Assist with development and engineering of leach and recovery of Boric Acid and Li products. Also, provide strategic and technical advice across all aspects of engineering.

•Key person in transferring the engineering to the operation through implementation of operating plan and transferring the knowledge to the operations team in a simple manner.

•Works with EPCM partner through the Project construction phase, into commissioning and then takes prime accountability for technical aspects at start-up and into routine operations.

•Ensures the company and especially Process practice a strong Safety (MSHA compliance) and Environment systems and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core Accountabilities

•Lead a strong culture in practice of Safety and Environmental stewardship.

•Develop and budget for the process plant and ensure that the budget is followed.

•Assist with detail engineering and finalize and update design criteria and review/updates of PFD and P&ID from EPCM partner.

•Translate the information from Engineering into "practical" terms to actual application on the field.

•Interface with geology and mining to be able to identify the components of ROM to the plant with accuracy, and to produce the "right" blend (Li and B) for the process feed.

•Lead Production planning, and forecasting in close consultation with Process engineer

•Ionic Mass, Energy and steam balance of process and acid plant. Develop and lead met Accounting for operation.

•Continue with metallurgical development of by-products, other deposits (M5, S6, and North basin) and limestone quarry.

•Develop and identify capital projects to improve the process

•Assist in Developing hazard identification and MSDS program.

•Assist in Identifying and developing key process and procedures for the construction project and operations.

•Assist and/or participates in accident/incident investigation.

•Emergency response and mitigation systems and resources, as needed

Major Challenges

•Identifying the proper feed mix of Li and B and able to adjust the water and Acid addition. These items affect the solubility and temperature of the system, which has significant affect on BA recovery, which in turn determines the value of Li Mother Liquor.

•Translate the "high tech" information for processing into "simple" term to explain the process to Lay- operators.

•Trouble shooting to make products (Boric Acid and Li Carbonate) within the specification (meaning the control of the impurities such as Mg, Na, Fe, Ca, Al, F and silicates).

•Identifying hazards with moving vehicles in a small area. (there are over 100 vehicles moving around the process plant to deliver reagents, to send out products, to remove by-products and spent ore, and finally to feed the process plant.

•Developing long term vision and strategy for the project that moves through design, construction and into operations

•Ensuring Process Department is positively engaged in the project.

•Ensuring all health and safety and environment activities are consistent with Company's overall philosophy.

General Responsibilities

•Ensure Company H&S Management Standards are incorporated in all work undertaken and supporting systems and procedures are in place.

•Maintain open and efficient communication channels across the project to share knowledge, contacts, experience and expertise

QUALIFICATIONS

•Tertiary / post graduate qualification in related field desirable.

•Professional certification (BSc, PE), if applicable.

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

•Minimum of 10 years' experience in both operational and project execution settings.

•Proven record of success in process/metallurgy achievements and results.

•Good trouble shooting ability.

•Supervisory experience of contractors and operators.

•Certification of MSHA for surface operations.

•Experience in construction and start up.

•Experience in dealing with MSHA.

•Exposure to large multi-disciplined projects.

•Understanding of mining extraction operations.

•Understanding of health and safety legal requirements as they apply to the mining and construction industry.

•Excellent understanding of the application of technology in safety and safety compliance.

•Excellent presentation skills.

•Excellent computer skills - using Microsoft Office and process simulation tools
