Job Description:

Summary:

The person in this position will provide electrical engineering expertise as part of multidisciplinary teams working on electrical substation projects. Responsibilities include conducting electrical studies, completing conceptual and final design, providing support during bidding and construction, and assisting with start-up and commissioning. Work also involves analysis and troubleshooting as well as preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, and cost estimation for electric utilities and renewable developers. This position may require short-term, out-of-town assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • At least 2 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to project assignments described above
  • Computer skills and familiarity with electric design and analysis software, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of and experience in engineering services for electric substations, alternative energy systems, electric utility interconnect requirements, and related software analysis for electric utilities
  • Knowledge and experience in system protection, application, and programming of protective relaying
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy environment that encourages self-initiative
  • Flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • Project experience in voltages up to 230 kV
  • Ability to obtain a professional engineer (PE) license
  • Experience designing protection and control systems
  • Experience performing substation studies
  • Modeling experience with ETAP, CDEGS, ASPEN, or other utility software sets


NOTE: There may be occasional travel to locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may require entering and working within spaces with limited accessibility and other conditions typical of high-voltage substation facilities. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $30.00-$52.00/hour. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
