About the role
We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and collaborative professional to drive consistent delivery across our buy processes. The selected individual will work with local stakeholders with the overall accountability to ensure the expeditious disposal of decommissioned assets and obsolete materials with the goal to create value by the timely return of cash to the BU and to document the disposal of assets in sufficient detail to promote proper internal control over the authorization and execution of business transactions for the Rio Tinto Kennecott operations.
To coordinate and lead Asset Disposal projects for Rio Tinto Kennecott (RTK); implement and manage the Rio Tinto best practice Asset Disposal process; identify and support asset disposal projects to capture value in disposal of surplus and obsolete equipment, parts stock, and materials for BUs, and to provide strategic asset disposal guidance and service support.
The establishment of strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, equipment owners, Group peers, suppliers and Buyers, is a critical success element to the role.
The role is based out of the South Jordan offices, reporting to local Manager Inventory Control.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
o To provide specialist disposal support, contract development and management; identify and support disposal projects to capture value for RTK.
o Ensure that physical disposition is timely and that sales are transacted in accord with sound business principles.
o Devise marketing strategy, which advances and implements that strategy, formulates standards and procedures that govern tasks and transactions.
o Establish and maximize systems for cataloguing, storing, displaying, advertising, selling, and shipping all goods declared excess to the needs of maintenance and operations departments.
o Represent RTK in direct selling activities to mining companies, other external users, surplus disposal firms, and scrap dealers. Determines the need for, and represents RTK in concluding representation agreements with agents.
o Transacts sales of surplus and obsolete assets.
o Executes and applies the Asset Disposal Policy and Procedure and ensures adherence.
o Oversee warehouse material maintenance program to ensure spares are maintained on a regular basis (e.g., motors, gearboxes, pumps, etc.)
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
o A high school graduate diploma or equivalent;
o 4+ years of work experience in mining work environment with experience in asset disposal or asset recovery processes
o Strong experience working with SAP
o A collaborative approach, ability to work across organizational lines, as a team.
o Exposure to global business environments / global roles
o Effective interpersonal and communication skills
o Analytical and problem solving skills
o Be self-driven, proactive, result oriented, structured
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
