Job Title: Procurement Specialist

Project: Pumpkin Hollow, Yerington, Nevada

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Residence in Yerington or nearby community required

Hourly Rate: $31 / Hour (Overtime Possible)

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Project Procurement Lead is accountable for providing expertise and direction in the area of Procurement, Contracts Administration and Warehousing to the Project team. The incumbent is required to successfully supervise the project procurement functions, systems and procedures, to ensure compliance to both the client and Redpath guidelines, policies, and procedures.

The incumbent will provide leadership and development to subordinate team members to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved. The Procurement Specialist must be conversant in the supply chain discipline of project management, oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of procurement inclusive of overseeing the setup of project administrative aspects.

General:

• Implementation of a procurement process that is in line with project needs.
  • Track and produce dashboards that can be presented to site leadership and communicated to the client on a regular basis for progress.
  • Accountable for accurate procurement within the business unit
  • Review and understand tender or completed proposal documents for mining construction projects, including bills of quantities, general conditions of contract and special conditions of contract
  • Procurement, Contract Administration and Warehousing functions during all phases of the project. Report project progress with regard to procurement activities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
    • Develop and maintain project procurement procedures to ensure compliance to client and Redpath guidelines, policies, and procedures. Recommend changes to the standard such that best practices are introduced and implemented within the department.
    • Update and analyze procurement tasks within the schedule for impact to critical path.
    • Implement tracking and monitoring systems for progress reporting and maintenance of the Procurement Status Report.
    • Influences departmental work assignments through active participation in the 4-week look ahead (7-21 scheduling system). Monitors contractor work routines to ensure work is adequately planned prior to scheduling. Escalates problems as required.
    • Monitor project cost control applications and identify variances to procurement budget allowances.
    • Interface with Engineering and Development / Construction Managers to ensure that procurement information is adequate and timely.
    • Interface with Project Controls regarding any potential baseline variances on schedule, cost or quality.
    • Arrange the preparation of purchase requisitions and contract documents to meet project requirements. Administer contracts and purchase requisitions during execution of the work or delivery of the goods and/or services from initiation to closeout.
    • Coordinate the site warehousing function including the following activities: maintenance of the warehouse and yard lay down; receiving; storage and issuing of supplies; maintaining the required stock of supplies.
    • Actively promote the recognition in subordinate staff that safety of personnel is of the higher priority and cannot be compromised
    • Assist in selection and training of suitable candidates within the supply chain discipline
    • Ensure that the Management of Change process is being maintained and integrated with Redpath's policies, procedures, contracts and financial system (where required)
    • Participate in compiling, updating and tracking project costs and schedule (JD Edwards or other accounting systems used by Redpath, inventory, and maintenance tracking systems)
  • Prepare management information reports for site and office personnel incorporating both physical advances and financial data to engender a profit focused culture on projects
  • • Monitor and support the proper use and implementation of the code of accounts on projects
  • Arrange meetings, including compiling and circulating proper project meeting minutes
  • Monitor trends obtained from site statistics and advise management of issues potentially impacting on policies, procedures, schedule, costs, project scope, risks and/or safety related issues
  • Maintain professional working relationships with management and client representatives
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information
  • Ensure that all functions are carried out in compliance with company and national health, safety and environmental guidelines, policies, procedures and legislations

      Education

      Required: Preferred:

      University degree in a related scientific, business or engineering field

      Post secondary certification in Project Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management and/or Contracts Administration.

      Work Experience:

      Required: 7 Years of post-graduate field and/or office based supply chain experience related to underground construction projects or operational mining environment, with knowledge of project management, construction contracts, reporting and data manipulation

      Preferred: 10 Years supply chain experience in mining shaft sinking, lateral development, raiseboring, mechanized raise climbing or similar underground construction projects with a sound knowledge of contract principles and data manipulation into management information

      Knowledge Required

      • Knowledgeable about Procurement and Warehousing processes and terminology.
      • Extensive experience preparing and managing supply chain / contract documents.
      • Excellent computer skills, MSWord and Excel, including database manipulation.
      • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
      • Self-motivated, proactive and ability to multi-task.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate team commitment
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (internally and externally) and demonstrated ability to work with Redpath management and clients
      • Procurement roles and related project services on projects
      • Good conceptual skills in understanding relationships between projects, the overall organization and its environment, and how change in one part of the project affects the whole
      • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, scheduling Software (MS Projects or Primavera) and measurement and estimating software
      • Technical knowledge of mining and construction.
      • Excellent client service/management, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.


      • Highly computer literate preferably with mining background and knowledge of ERP systems
      • Adequate financial understanding to develop management information data and hands-on management style encouraging participative and entrepreneurial input, but with clearly focused business goals, with proven leadership skills and abilities to develop subordinate staff
      • Contractor's background will be an advantage
      • Overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines
      • Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish an asset
