Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Project Superintendent to manage surface projects focused around the mineral processing, tailings management and other areas as required. This role will report to the Processing Manager. The successful candidate will work within our team of professional in a fast-paced work environment .

Responsibilities:

  • Define, scope, and manage surface projects focused around mineral processing, tailings management and other areas as required
  • Manage projects and optimization such as surface water management and, process upgrades, and tailings management.
  • Manage the develop continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with project leads to ensure project delivery and maximize value.
  • Coordinate field activities with operations, maintenance and contractors as required
  • Actively seek optimization opportunities to increase safety, environment, housekeeping, productivity, or reduce consumption in surface operations.
  • Coordinate with technical services, metallurgy, operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Effectively manage Project execution and costs
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports
  • Effectively manage Procurement plans/strategies
  • Oversee Project QA/QC


Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in project-related field required. PMP certification or equivalent is a benefit.
  • Experience in projects and continuous improvement
  • Experience in mineral processing and tailings management.
  • Familiarity with underground mining and paste backfill.
  • In-depth knowledge and application of project-management tools and techniques required
  • Experience working with EPCM companies required
  • Demonstrated ability to create project plans and monitor their execution required
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships and work through influence required
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to assimilate complex information into easily understood communication, presentations, and resource aids required
  • Experience creating and managing AFEs preferred
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office software required
  • Working knowledge of SAP, CAD Software preferred

The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
