Your Role

Newmont Cripple Creek and Victor Mines is seeking a Short Range Mine Planning engineer to perform short range planning functions in CCV's Mine Technical Services.

Essential Duties

  • Be responsible for your safety and the safety of your team members
  • Monitor performance including key KPI's and develop strategies to improve performance
  • Use engineering first principles to contribute to the design, and development of processes, practices, and methodologies within the Technical Services Group
  • Develop and communicate weekly mining, mill feed, leach pad and waste dump schedules to stakeholders.
  • Aligns short-term plans with medium-term, and life-of-mine plans
  • Analyzes and interprets mine plans to ensure alignment with objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient execution of designs and plans
  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities. Engineer and devise new approaches to problems encountered. Work requires originality and judgment in the independent evaluation and development of optimal resolution for problems.
  • Design and modification of Pits, waste dumps, stockpiles and roads.
  • Mine equipment studies and equipment requirement forecasting

Training & Experience

This role is only open to applicants with the following qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of three years of experience at an open pit mine
  • Understanding and use of MinePlan Software planning packages (MSPlanner) and Autocad preferred.
  • Extensive analytical and mine planning experience
  • Surface mining experience in engineering Preferred
  • Good computer skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work directly with others.


Working Conditions

This role will be based in Cripple Creek and Victor.

The salary range offered for this role is $ 75,700 - 113,500 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
