About the role

We are looking for a thought-leader, team-oriented and trusted Senior Business Partner - Ports, Rail & Core Services to join our Procurement team to deliver sustainable value to our stakeholders.

In this role you will be a key senior leader of the Procurement team who supports Rio Tinto Iron Ore strategy, and you will lead a talented team who:
  • Is the focal point of Procurement for Rail, Ports and Core Services, and aligns the Global and Regional category strategies to the needs of our assets
  • Develops procurement strategies for our Ports, Rail and Core Services assets
  • Builds partnerships to innovate and deliver safe productive maintenance and operations
  • Implements our decarbonization approach, and,
  • Expands our engagement with local and regional supplier markets.

The development of Rio Tinto's world-class iron ore business has come about through hard work, creative thinking and significant investment. In the last few years we have invested A$40 billion to build our iron ore supply chain an integrated and flexible set of 16 mines, 1,700 kilometers of rail, four independent ports and related infrastructure, all running with real-time programming, technical support and decision-making capability from our Operations Centre. It is a system designed to seamlessly deliver a range of iron ore products to around 100 customers globally.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience
  • A strong set of values and leadership experience to inspire, grow, develop and attract talents
  • A change and business developer mindset, with a passion towards sustainability and leading commercial transformation
  • The ability to build a positive reputation through dealing openly, fairly and consistently
  • A proven track record of developing and leading commercial strategies
