  • Be part of a group that is safety driven and values inclusion and diversity
  • Great opportunity to network, collaborate and partner with mining operations, world-leading technology suppliers and maintenance planning professionals
  • Perth based with flexible working arrangements available, flexible hours and opportunity to work remotely

About the role

All progress begins with pioneers. At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.

We are seeking engaging, motivated individuals to fill several roles within our newly formed Long-Term Planning team within Asset Management and Engineering Services (AMES).

Our AMES team operates as a centralised maintenance planning function for our Rio Tinto Iron Ore operational partners, accountable for the delivery of specific long-term plans, shut forecasts and budgets to our mining and port operations across the Pilbara.

The Long-Term Planning team will lead Strategic Asset Planning 4.0, where there is opportunity to create a global benchmark in strategic asset planning. The team will develop and employ a centralised asset planning framework (people, process, systems and structures) using the latest planning support technologies (AMT, WOL models), which will be tightly integrated with engineering/asset data (digital assets) and operations.

You'll need to utilise your outstanding ability to partner with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including site based operational and maintenance leaders, finance and risk advisors, and asset management service providers to deliver plans that optimise cost and risk to meet prevailing business objectives

With support from the Superintendent, Long Term Planning, your role will:
  • Develop long-term asset budget forecasts that optimise risk while meeting business objectives
  • Work closely with engineering teams and sites to ensure that the zero-based long-term plans align with the standardised whole of life cost models
  • Liaise with logistics and asset health teams to ensure that long-lead items and resources are budgeted and provisioned on time
  • Work closely with operations and site short term planning teams to enable operationalisation of long-term plans, budgets into short term and shut plans at a quarterly cadence
  • Analyse the conformance of maintenance execution with maintenance plans to identify improvement opportunities and work with asset data, engineering, and finance teams throughout the change management process
  • Integrate the long-term plans for each operation into their respective Asset Maintenance Shutdown calendars

What you'll bring

You are an experienced maintenance planner and will have working experience of mineral processing, heavy mobile equipment or in similar industry. You will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a solid understanding of the current planning and budgeting technologies available and have demonstrated performance in asset life cycle planning, financial and risk analysis.

What we offer
  • A work environment where safety is always the number one priority
  • A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto
  • A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with Annual incentive program
  • Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family
  • Attractive share ownership plan
  • Company provided insurance cover
  • Extensive salary sacrifice and salary packaging options
  • Career development and education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions
  • Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support
  • Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave)
  • Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more)

Where you'll be working

The roles are based at our state-of-the-art Operations Centre (OC) located near the Perth domestic airport. Flexible working arrangements are available. You can take advantage of an ideal combination of working remotely, from home as well as spending face-to-face time with your colleagues on a regular basis. You can also expect the occasional meeting at our head office located at Central Park Building in Perth CBD, with site travel required from time-to-time.

In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets with industry-leading margins. Our premium product suite, including our flagship Pilbara blend, drives strong customer relationships and is supported by technical and commercial marketing expertise. The iron ore business continues to be the world's largest autonomous truck operator and a proud leader in automated mining technologies.
