Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

About The Role

Schedule: Shift 5/2 and 4/3 – 9 hour days

Position Reports To: Senior Engineer

Position Overview

The Drill and Blast Engineer ensures safe and efficient technical services by generating designs, plans and measurements that provide critical mining information to operators and the rest of the technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of weekly mid-range and long-range drilling and blasting plans
• Timely completion of drill and blasting designs.
• Lead initiatives by identifying opportunities, products, or techniques for reducing overall costs

while improving productivity of the drilling fleet

• Management of Blasting contract spend and invoicing
• Mentorship of EIT’s and Co-op students within the department.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Science in Mining or Civil Engineering, or relevant to the resources industry
• P. Eng. designation in Canada
• Exposure to Minesight, AutoCAD, MS3D, Deswik or Vulcan software is an asset
• 5+ years of previous work experience in Open Pit Mines with a firm understanding in Drill and Blast.
• Drill and Blast design experience required.
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Team player with good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in various environments when required
