Based in fantastic Whangarei we have a great opportunity for a Surfacing Contract Manager to join our hardworking team.

As Contract Manager - Surfacing your role will be to provide management of specific operations in the department, delivering on contracts requirements, optimising resource use and achieving operational/financial target results within a Branch/Operations.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership and relationship skills to collaborate and enhance relationships with existing clients to deliver and exceed expectations.

Specific Responsibilities include:

• To tender, plan and direct operations to achieve requirements
• Provide commercial reviews to optimise performance
• Analyse contract performance
• Induction, training and other HR functions
• Build client relations
• Maintain all Safety, Environmental and Quality assurance systems

To be successful in this role:

• You will ideally hold a tertiary qualification in engineering (BE or NZCE qualification equivalent) and/or have over 5 years' project management/engineering experience in chip/asphalt sealing operations.
• You will also have the ability to interrogate SOR / Contract documents and utilise the benefit of the contracts.
• Experience in managing long term and short term contracts, working within and meeting deadlines.
• Understanding of financial and accounting processes, to include preparation of progress and claim reports and producing and interpreting monthly financial reports to P&L level.
• Negotiation and management of ongoing change.
• Ability to drive operational site work to ensure quality is achieved, work completed to schedule and rework is minimise
• Computer literacy
• Previous experience in compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies

In this role you need to have strong leadership skills and a high level written and verbal communication skills as you will be liaising closely with staff, sub-contractors, clients and stakeholders. Putting these skills to work will go a long way to maintaining and improving relationships. It is also essential you have the ability to think outside the box and innovate, enabling improvement to the service to mutual benefit of all stakeholders.
