Reporting to the Superintendent, Strategic Planning, the Senior Engineer - Strategic Planningis responsible for managing the site’s operating and economic models and conducting financial evaluations of mine plan scenarios to support all facets of the Annual Planning Cycle (APC). In addition, this role will lead site wide strategic initiatives and business analysis to support the senior management team.

A main focus will be delivering on key strategic projects that affect multiple aspects of the business and coordinating teams across functions and work areas. As a member of the Strategic Planning team, you will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of mine planning – from exploration, to operations, through to closure; you will be a key member of the HVC 2040 team, working on our exciting mine development proposal.

We need a motivated self-starter who can remain organized, effectively collaborate with multi-functional teams, and prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Maintain and improve the site’s operating and economic models
  • Lead strategic business evaluations that cross multiple functional areas
  • Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to successfully deliver on the Annual Planning Cycle activities; work closely with the Superintendent, Strategic Planning through the LOM and 5YBP components, and with the Controller through the Budget component


Qualifications :
  • University degree in a mining-related engineering discipline
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
  • Strong financial background with experience in economic evaluations
  • Experience in mine planning is a definite asset. HVC uses Vulcan, Whittle, COMET & OPMS for planning tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business drivers, the ability to use business logic in decision making; adept at articulating clear business drivers and developing alignment to find effective solutions and achieve desired outcomes
