In support of significant growth, our Hawke's Bay team have an exciting opportunity to support our high performing team as a Construction Operations Manager.

The role will see you support our team of Project Managers and working closely with our teams to be a strong contender in the market place, implement sound commercial delivery and financial processes that ensure Downer are gaining maximum return. The continuance and development of key customer relationships is an upmost priority while allowing the Downer business to continue to flourish and develop - always looking to improve and identify client solutions.

About the role
In this key leadership role within the Construction Business Unit, of our Transport Services team, you'll working alongside the Regional Construction Manager in setting and executing our strategy. You will be responsible for development and delivery of the long term construction strategy with sustainable growth and excellence in delivery.

Your focus will be to promote and drive:

• Our strategic business development in the areas of 3 Waters, Roading and Civil Structures
• Construction best practice across the region
• Development of construction capability within the Project Management team
• A more risk management approach to the delivery of the regional programme
• Staff development and succession

About You
As an experienced Senior Construction Manager, you'll bring with you a proven record of putting people first through providing decisive and inclusive leadership to your teams and the wider business. In addition you'll also have:

• Strategic planning skills, focused on delivering BAU with excellence whilst growing our market
• Strong communication skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships
• Demonstrated capability in regards to financial and performance management
• Extensive construction experience in delivering contracts including demonstrated capability in tendering, commercial acumen, project controls, programme management and resource planning.
