You will be a specialist tradesperson who can lead and motivate your crew to carry out Civil construction and repairs within the Palmerston North space on a day-to-day basis. Duties within your team include:

• Planning tasks with the supervisor, and following up to ensure they are completed efficiently and to the required specification and standard
• Ensuring efficient use of materials, supplies, and equipment
• Providing and organizing on-the-job development/training for the team and supporting general career development

Nga pukenga matua | Important Skills

To be successful in this challenging yet rewarding role, you will have extensive knowledge of quality and H&S ideologies within a civil construction/maintenance environment. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills will serve you well in this role.

In addition, you will also have:

• Knowledge of and experienced in civil construction specifications and procedures

• Previous experience in a similar position within the civil construction / roading industry
• A flexible work approach to deal with unexpected events/make decisions and provide direction to work teams, as no two days are the same
• High standard of workmanship
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
