About the role
We are looking for Auto Electrician Tradesperson-Auto Electrician to join the Boyne Smelters Limited in the Mobile Equipment Workshop Team, reporting to the Team Leader, the vacancy offered is a day shift roster with a roster allowance.
If you are passionate about safety, show initiative and can work unsupervised we have an opportunity for you. Some of the core activities of these roles include:
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment failures and improving reliability
- Identifying defects and providing feedback on asset performance and health
- Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours
- Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which will involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation
What you'll bring
To be successfully considered for these roles, you will have:
- A trade qualification
- You will have demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a team and bring a positive attitude to working with others
- A demonstrated commitment to safety and zero incidents
- The ability to solve problems in a professional and calm manner
- A driver's license
And experience in at least one or more of the following areas:
- Demonstrated experience working with PLC control systems (Allen Bradley etc)
- Maintenance on Heavy Mobile Equipment Fleet, including Forklifts, Front End loaders Trucks etc
- Demonstrated experience working with safety systems
It would be an advantage if you have any of the following:
- Dogging, Forklift Licence
- Air Conditioning Licence
- National accredited Working at Heights and Confined Space qualifications.
- SAP experience

Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia's second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
