About the role

The role of the Production Engineer is aligned with planning and scheduling the activities of the Development and Production fleets aimed to optimize Plant production and to be consistent with the monthly plan. You are to produce the 24 hour and weekly plan with the aim of maintaining planned grades of production tonnes

Reporting to the Operations Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for:
  • Producing accurate mine scheduling information for integrated operations.
  • Completing production area maps for grade control.
  • Communicating planning material to Mine Planning, Mine and Plant Operations and Field Maintenance personnel
  • Providing relevant maps and machine guidance files as required to implement dig and dump plans.
  • Completing and communicating plan reconciliations.
  • Liaising with Supervisors and Superintendents to ensure plan implementation.
  • Managing plan deviations to maintain grades and tonnes. Ensure such changes are properly communicated to peers and direct report.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering ora related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience within mining operations with experience in productivity improvement
  • Excellent numerical analysis and data validation skills
  • Ability to engage with frontline leaders and key stakeholders to deliver outcomes
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • The motivation and ability to be self-driven and work autonomously

Where you will be working

Our Gove Operations have been supplying the global aluminium industry with world-class bauxite for more than 40 years. Located in Australia's Northern Territory, each year the operation produces approximately 12 million tonnes of bauxite.

With a workforce of 460 people, daily activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, shutdown planning and execution, export operations, cultural heritage management, and closure activities following our decision to close the site's alumina refinery and associated Residue Disposal Area in 2017.

We expect our bauxite mining operations on the Gove Peninsula will cease in 2030 and we are undertaking significant work to support closure of the operation. We also recognise our operations take place on Indigenous-owned land, and we are committed to working together to achieve a positive future for Nhulunbuy and the Gove Peninsula post-mining.
