We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our Labour and Maintenance team.

The role will be responsible to support the Fixed Plant Maintenance team in the development and implementation of category strategies and management of maintenance labour services for conveyor and crane maintenance, equipment and crane hire and offsite repairs.

The role is vital in ensuring the maintenance service requirements of our fixed plants are met and equipment downtime is minimised. The role interfaces with a broad range of stakeholders within both Rio Tinto Procurement and Rio Tinto Iron Ore.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has strategic acumen coupled with strong influencing and communication skills and possesses solid experience in contracting, category strategy development and stakeholder management.

Reporting to the Principal Fixed Plant Maintenance and managing a direct report, you will:
  • Contribute to the development of the Fixed Plant Maintenance category vision and strategic direction, accountable for execution within conveyor and crane segment.
  • Connect and facilitate the interactions between key business stakeholders with respect to sourcing and category strategies.
  • Collaborate with the business to identify innovative ideas for value creation through cash release, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Evolve best practise category intel including deepening labour market knowledge from which to derive insights and signals, anticipating future opportunities.
  • Lead and evolve key supplier partnerships and ensure implementation of a supplier performance management plans for the portfolio that deliver on the business priorities.
  • Travel to Rio Tinto Iron Ore sites as required to engage with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally have:
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • A solid background in strategic procurement, category management and contracting
  • Experience in labour services contracts desirable
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of interpersonal and influencing skills with experience in stakeholder management
  • High level of commercial acumen with a strategic mindset
  • Experience in business process improvement and change management desirable
  • Advanced skills with the Windows environment, including use of the MS Office suite of products and ideally SAP or an equivalent ERP
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or a related discipline highly desirable. CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply desirable
