Senior Advisor Finance Business Partner, Rio Tinto Kennecott

About the role

We are looking for a finance business partner to join the finance business partnership team in Salt Lake City, Utah. The role will support financial activities for the General Plant and will support the FP&A Manager (who this role reports into) to drive business performance and value at one of Rio Tinto's key assets.

Excellence in this role means you will:

· Understand business performance and value, and use that understanding to shape priorities, plans and actions

· Use analytical tools to help understand and drive performance value

· Manage a network of key stakeholders across the Kennecott business

· Collaborate with excellence to draw effectively on the global Rio Tinto finance organization

· Contribute towards the key planning and estimating requirements for the business

This role is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with the passion and desire to play a key role supporting the performance of a large mining and processing business.

In this role, you will:

• Partner with GMs, Managers, and Superintendents to proactively manage operating costs.

• Collaborate with other business support functions such as HR, Procurement, Legal etc. to manage employee costs, payments, contracts etc.

• Analysis, planning, forecasting and consolidation of monthly operating costs.

• Prepare, develop, and comply with the Annual Planning Program, including budgeting and forecasting.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting packages.

• Create and update recurrent and ad hoc reports and presentations.

• Contribute towards key FP&A tasks over weekly and monthly estimates.

• Manage trade working capital estimate process working closely with RT Commercial, Controllership to ensure estimates are reliable and also to facilitate in TWC initiatives.

• Leverage technology to provide insightful advice and identify new improvement opportunities, and improve processes within the team and business

• Ensure governance and compliance through effective application of financial controls and risk management

About you

To be successfully considered for this role we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Engineering.
  • CPA, CMA designations preferred.
  • Strong communications and analytical skills; ability to work with diverse team members across many organizational levels.
  • SAP experience desired.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Power Point. Experience with Power BI/Tableau is desirable.
  • Experience with enterprise financial planning tools (Anaplan/Hyperion) is desirable.
  • Good understanding of IFRS standards.
  • Refined time management and personal organizational skills
