Description

Develop and distribute various site-based communications, including, but not limited to supervisor packets, video message boards, mine entrance billboards, radio messaging and communications meetings. Assist site leadership in developing and creating content for quarterly meetings. Schedule and conduct monthly meetings with select front-line employees to ensure information communicated in quarterly meetings was understood. Gather and record feedback/suggestions from front-line employees. Work closely with Site Culture Leads and Corporate Communications to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with corporate goals and objectives. Assist with companywide initiatives, as needed.

  • Assist site leadership in developing and creating content for quarterly meetings.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly meetings with select front-line employees to ensure they understand information communicated in quarterly meetings. Gather and record feedback/suggestions from front-line employees.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled Corporate Communications meetings and support companywide communications initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Works in fast-paced environment with frequent conflicting priorities.
  • Interacts with all levels of the organization.
  • Works under minimal supervision. Has latitude to prioritize daily work.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communications or similar field, AND five (5) years of experience working within a corporate communications department or in a similar environment with experience developing and implementing print and electronic communication content; OR
  • Master's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communications or similar field, AND three (3) years of experience working within a corporate communications department or in a similar environment with experience developing and implementing print and electronic communication content.
  • Strong demonstration of writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge:
    • Excellent command of grammar

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in a multi-location organization with multi-national/global communications and mining, natural resources or similar industry
  • Bilingual


Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws.
