POSITION OVERVIEW

Directs and coordinates activities concerning the Leaching Operation, Solvent Extraction Plant and Electrowinning Tankhouse (LSXEW).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinate/implement/oversee all operations requirements and/or modifications to the operations plan as requested by upper management.
  • Maintain technical awareness of competitive technology and new developments and evaluate possible application to research and operating activities.
  • Assemble data and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for operating information/environmental status/safety issues.
  • Oversee and direct all personnel activities, including employee counseling, discipline, and absenteeism for the LSXEW.
  • Supervise and direct the Senior Supervisors, Metallurgical Technicians and QC Supervisor in their daily activities.
  • Analyze complex problems involving knowledge of engineering, metallurgy, physics and chemistry, and interpret results and recommend action.
  • Communicate with the LSXEW Manager concerning metallurgical testing and operating practices that have the potential to increase production and decrease costs.
  • Assemble data and prepare forecasts for production for leaching, acid unloading and SX-EW.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge and experience with copper dump leaching, and SX-EW unit operations.
  • Ability to analyze and understand statistical metallurgical data, background in statistics a plus.
  • Computer fluency a must.
  • Applicant must have good communications skills (oral and written).
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be proficient with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2-5 years supervisory experience in a similar metallurgical/mining environment.
