Job Details

Newcrest is one of the world's largest gold mining companies. As a global business, we aim to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, valued and supported to bring their whole unique self to work.

We recognise that our different backgrounds and perspectives help us find better ways to: solve problems; attract and retain the best people; explore, develop and produce more gold safely and profitably; and help make Newcrest a better place to work.

At Newcrest, we hold core values that focus on caring about people, working together and achieving a high-performance culture through innovation and problem solving. Reflecting that commitment, we are seeking an experienced Chief Geologist to join our geology team based at Telfer.

Reporting to our Telfer General Manager, this role will provide safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control and leadership of the onsite geological and brownfield exploration functions, whilst delivering onsite and regional geological input. You will also provide leadership and strategic direction to the Telfer Life of Province Plan, driving behaviours, standards and frameworks to develop and maintain a business focused, high performance culture. As a technical leader, you will facilitate cross departmental co-operation and collaboration to maximise business value; ensuring corporate initiatives are translated into Telfer business goals.

As an ideal candidate, you will have significant geology experience across both operational and exploration roles, including exposure to underground and open pit environments. You will hold a tertiary degree in Exploration Science, Geology or Mining Geology with experience as the JORC Competent Person for reporting and a member of either AusIMM or AIG. As a successful technical leader with strong operational experience within a similar environment, you will have an ability to work with multiple stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines and have a high level of energy and commitment.

Newcrest's commitment to diversity and inclusion respects both the rights of every individual to work to their highest potential, free of discrimination, as well as the cultures, religions and governing codes applicable to each country in which we operate. We are proud to be an endorsed employer for all women through our partnership with Work180 and enhanced by our Respect@Work Program.

If you share our values and feel that you could make a meaningful difference in this role, please apply online before the advertised application closing date
