Responsibilities
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Procurement & Contract Specialist leads the sourcing of materials and services from retail and wholesale vendors to sustain operations. This role plans, directs, and manages all operations related to strategic procurement and contract placement activities. The Procurement & Contract Specialist will perform vendor relationship management, as well as ensure the lowest Total Cost Ownership (TCO) for the Company. More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure timely and professional service to end-user departments in the preparation and evaluation of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and adjudication of tender processes
- Negotiate, draft, and award contracts, agreements, and amendments with successful vendors, as well as manage, terminate and close out contracts as and when required
- Develop and maintain contract documentation and support contract management throughout the timeline of the service
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives
- Develop and foster successful relationships with stakeholders and key suppliers
- Monitor and improve upon key sourcing and contracts KPI’s
- Maintain the confidentiality of all Corporation information
- Know and comply with all the current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Loss Prevention procedures of Trafigura
- Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to all Corporation policies, procedures and guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a contracting environment with direct experience in preparation and negotiation of complex, high value contracts in the mining, oil or energy industry
- Bachelor’s degree in a business related field would be an asset
- Supply Chain Professional Designation preferred
- Knowledge and experience using SAP would be an asset
- Willingness to relocate to the Campbell River/Courtenay area
- Consent to a pre-employment medical examination that includes a drug & alcohol screen
- This position is a Monday to Friday 8 hours a day.
Myra Falls Mine is an underground mine operation located 90 km southwest of Campbell River, BC in the picturesque surroundings of Strathcona Provincial Park. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views. This is an onsite position and daily travel between the Campbell River/Courtenay area and the mine site is required. Bus transportation is provided. Relocation assistance to the Campbell River area may be available. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
