Job Description

Kinross' Project Value Assurance group is looking to hire a student for the summer of 2022 as part of our Gold Rush Internship program!

Purpose of Role
  • To support Kinross, its sites, and projects in making strategic decisions through analysis, business case development, modelling, and impactful communication to ensure that these projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget
  • Aid in development and updating of key project reports, presentations, and KPIs
  • Support in the study and implementation of opportunities to improve project economics through cost reduction, engineering, operations improvement, and strategic initiatives


Job Responsibilities

In this role, under guidance from PVA team members, our Gold Rush, Summer Intern - Project Value Assurance will:
  • Perform analysis that assists in decision making around development and implementation of projects at Kinross
  • Help develop and update various project related reports, presentations, and KPI tracking spreadsheets, dashboards etc., ensuring information is accurate, timely, and clearly communicated
  • Collaborate with project team members, site and corporate personnel, and contractors in developing sections of project studies
  • Support the development and updating of business cases and reports regarding projects and site initiatives
  • Support project "health checks" by analyzing information from project controls systems, processes, and procedures
  • Perform internal and external benchmarking exercises


Education and Experience

  • At least two years, and preferably three years, completed of a University degree in an analytical discipline. Engineering is strongly preferred, but other highly analytical disciplines will be considered.
  • No experience required, however previous summer job or other intern experience in the mining industry and/or project related experience and/or EPCM experience an asset.


Skills

  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to compile and analyze large amounts of information
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to take on new challenges and proactively drive toward solutions
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative work style; ability to work with a wide range of project, technical and financial leaders
  • Strong time-management skills to manage multiple assignments.
  • Must be self-directed and work well in an unstructured environment; comfortable with uncertainty
  • Language skills in Spanish, Russian, French, Arabic, Portuguese or are assets, but not mandatory. Preference is also given to candidates with international experience.


Other

  • Role will report to the Manager, Project Value Assurance
  • Must be open to travel, as this role will periodically require time at site. Travel can range from short, and potentially frequent, business trips to occasional travel to site for longer periods of time.
