Lehigh Cement is seeking a Cement Engineer in Training who will be based at our Limestone quarry in Cadomin, AB. This position is a training position for an entry level engineer or geologist.
The Cement Trainee Program provides you the opportunity of hands-on experience in operations across the region, while learning all aspects of the Cement business. This is achieved through the delivery of a development program combined with critical experiences and projects that are important to the business. The successful candidate will participate in a structured training program designed to provide an overview of the cement plant operations. The immersive 24-month program is designed to provide exposure, training, and hands-on experience. As an EIT, you will support the operations in achieving production goals through partnering with experienced engineers and managers in different departments, i.e., safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, and quality control. You will also work at different locations.

What You'll Get to Do:
- Participate in production and maintenance meetings.
- Learn basic supervisory skills by working side-by-side with supervisors.
- Complete assigned project work, performance studies.
- Participate in various training programs.
- Conduct root cause analysis.
- Support the operations in improving plant performance through partnering with experienced engineers and managers in different departments (safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, quality control).
- Learn basic supervisory skills by working side by side with production supervisors.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Program by suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment improvement and process improvement.
- Follow plant, safety and WCB policies, including the proper use of personal protection equipment. Maintain and awareness of plant environment standards. Takes corrective action to address minor problems or reports compliance issues to appropriate department for resolution.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or geology; preferred engineering degrees in chemical, mechanical or mining engineering
- Prior manufacturing exposure / experience a plus.
- Willingness to travel to other locations during training program.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24/7 operations.
- Role operates in a mining and manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
