Role Details:

Reporting to the OHS Superintendent you will be responsible for supporting and provision of Site and Department safety management systems and initiatives.

This role is offered on a 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie.

Duties of the role:
  • Lead and engage the OHS and operational mining teams in the development of process to ensure best OHS and injury management service and practices onsite.
  • Contribute to optimal business performance through the review, development, implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System and conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure consistent compliance within the operation.
  • Ensure that the business has the ability to operate with confidence accounting for risk by assisting in the coordination and maintenance of the site risk management function, including completion of reviews in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the business has the ability to confidently identify and reduce its exposure to risk by coordinating the sites incident investigation system, taking a leading role in major incident investigations, identifying strategies to overcome re-occurrence of incidents.
  • Coordinate and lead a small team of OHS Advisors
  • Assist in building the departmental business plan, participating and developing department goals, targets and objectives, to ensure alignment with the business unit, GFA and GFL strategic plans.
  • Ensure employees, business partners, contractors and visitors are aware of their obligations within the EHS Management Standard through the coordination of site inductions.


About You:

You will have:
  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or similar
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment
  • 5 years in an OH&S function, including working knowledge of ISO: 45001 Safety Management Systems
  • Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation
  • Previous experience in delivery of OHS services in underground mining, mineral processing environments - preferably gold would be highly regarded
