New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About the Role

Schedule: 5x2, Monday – Friday

Position Reports To: Senior Mine Engineer

Position Overview : As an integral part of New Afton’s Technical Services Team, the Senior Planning Engineer will be initially responsible for the long-term mine planning of the underground construction and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain longterm block cave development and construction schedule using Deswik Sched
• Manage mine designs and engineering studies; lead strategic project evaluation
• Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure all activities and milestones affecting the mine plan are captured and scheduled, including Mine Operations, Maintenance, Capital Projects etc.
• Track progress against the schedule, analyze any schedule deviations and suggest corrective actions
• Monitor and report on critical path, float, and schedule performance for key activities
• Prepare and present monthly 3-month plan outlook
• Prepare annual and quarterly mine physicals forecasts

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
• Five to ten years' mine engineering experience at underground operations
• Registration, or immediately eligible to register, with EGBC as a P.Eng.
• Experience using 3D mine design software
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Block cave mining experience an asset
• Experience using Deswik, Deswik.Sched, PowerBI, Primavera P6 considered an asset.
