ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Training Coordinator, the Underground Production Trainer is part of the Training Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Applicants for consideration must be able to:
  • Participate and assist in daily morning meeting with the training team;
  • Participate and assist in daily Operation's Department morning meeting with the Production Teams;
  • Deliver training programs related to Health & Safety, equipment operation and safety practices and processes;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and deliver employee training, evaluations, constructive feedback and impartial skills assements with the concerned departments;
  • Regularly follow-up on the employees' performance by setting up meetings with the concerned department Supervisors / General Supervisors;
  • Assist with required evaluations of the mine operators (evaluation for candidate selection, assessment for class change, evaluation for employee promotion);
  • Ensure a thorough verification, application, and development of training content based on procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Work in accordance with training standards established within the company and demonstrate the ability to collaborate interdepartmentally to improve and / or update these as technology and situations develop;
  • Document and provide quality information to be shared with the cross-shift and supervisor.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • High School Diploma;
  • 6 - 8 years of experience as an Underground Hard Rock Miner;
  • 3 years of experience as a Trainer/Instructor in a similar industrial environment would be considered an asset ;
  • Must have experience on a variety of underground production drilling, service and mucking equipment (Electric/Hydraulic Long hole Drills, Cable Bolters, Emulsion Loaders, Blockholer and/or Rock breaker, as well as Remote Operated Scoop Trams are considered an asset);
  • Experience and proficiency at reading and understanding Engineering Prints and Plans;
  • Experience with programmable electronic detonators;
  • Able to complete, organize and maintain training records and documents, show an aptitude for continuous improvement and management of change;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
