Principal Advisor Global Technology Procurement Atlantic

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Global Technology who will be responsible for engaging with the senior IS&T stakeholders in the Atlantic region, co-developing technology category strategies, accountable for executing sourcing strategies, contract implementation and supplier relationship management across Rio Tinto's Atlantic region. You will be responsible for a team who will deliver effective and efficient solutions to generate value for the business.

This role is a great opportunity for a passionate leader who can bring people together to effectively implement, lead and govern best practices and efficiencies within the technology procurement categories. Reporting to the Senior Manager Technology Procurement you will need to:
  • Fluent English and French speaking
  • Manage a team of Category Specialists to deliver on the Priorities of the GM Global Indirects
  • Meet the demands and expectations of the IS&T Atlantic stakeholders and projects in region by engaging with the key Atlantic IS&T stakeholders and functional teams
  • Collaborate with other Principal Advisors to deliver innovative solutions to broad IS&T challenges whether it be procurement process or category specific
  • Work as the Atlantic lead on all things that relate to Technology Procurement
  • Have relationship management skills to connect internal bridges for continuous collaboration and demonstrate a deep technology category subject matter expertise
  • Execute thought leadership on a variety of complex process and leadership challenges
  • Lead continuous improvement of procurement services, processes, tools, techniques, and operating methods through internal knowledge and external thought leadership
  • Good foundations in understanding data and to be able to draw conclusions and make decisions with data and analytics - drive procurement efficiency and data quality
  • Leading the design and delivery of improvement solutions that delivers quantifiable business value
  • Manage multiple streams of work and stakeholders across business groups and locations, whilst having clear and crisp communication skills
  • Primary focus on meeting targets and you must demonstrate that you have the ability to pursue a long-term strategic vision whilst remaining flexible enough to respond tactically to changing demands or unexpected opportunities.
  • Strong commercial critical thinking, structured presentation and interpersonal skills as well as drive, determination and belief.
  • Strategic commercial acumen is essential for the role.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • +10 years of experience in Technology Procurement
  • A degree in Business, Procurement or management with a proven track record delivering results and being able to tell the story of value realisation
  • Sound understanding and deep experience in working end to end business, business process improvement, technology and integration points
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a team and a technology procurement portfolio across a complex global organsaition across multiple stakeholders, systems, tools, countries and change management scenerios to successfully deliver maximum outcomes
  • Experienced in engaging with and coaching key stakeholders up to senior leader level
  • Experience in reporting and analytics to drive business intelligence
  • A strong safety mindset
  • An analytical, pragmatic and curious problem solver
  • A natural leader with a high level of initiative, motivation and drive to succeed
  • Able to operate autonomously and manage your workload with remote support

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Knowledge and experience working across cultures and geographies as this is a global role.
