ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Manager, People, the Human Resources Superintendent is responsible for developing and delivering strategic orientations, programs and plans to maintain and enhance Agnico Eagle's culture through HR cycle steps which include, but are not limited to, labor relations management, attraction, recruitment and selection, training and people development and succession planning.

The incumbent will provide strategic and tactical leadership, coordination and oversight of all Human Resources and Training activities for our Meliadine division.
  • Define objectives and metrics for the Human Resources and Training teams, ensuring they are aligned with the division's strategic plan;
  • Hold accountability for the achievement of the Human Resources and Training Department's objectives;
  • Assume responsibility of labor and employee relations;
  • Coach and mentor team members, as well as the management teams, on the importance of Agnico Eagle's culture and of labor relation management considerations in Nunavut as well as the interdependence between the HR strategy and the operations;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and reporting agencies as well as legal compliance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations covering the human resources field;
  • Provide guidance and counsel on training and development opportunities for our current and future employees;
  • Promote transmission of the organizational culture by providing mentoring, coaching and feedback to growing teams and senior business partners;
  • Overview, monitor and control the operating budget of each area under your supervision;
  • Contribute to strategic staffing activities, recruitment and development of the workforce;
  • Communicate, motivate and build strategic relationships at all levels within the Nunavut divisions and with all stakeholders;
  • Lead initiatives for equal opportunity employment and diversity in relation to the local workforce, women and visible minorities;
  • Work in an extremely fast-paced environment, showing leadership in the management of constant changes while promoting a culture of high efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial relations or a related field;
  • A minimum 8-10 years of experience in Human Resources leadership roles;
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to build consensus, rally support around common goals, and to motivate groups and individuals;
  • Ability to successfully communicate strategies and plans with all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments;
  • Experience in the mining industry is considered an asset;
  • Maturity, sound judgement, diplomacy and the ability to liaise confidently, effectively and positively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
  • Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Strong team building, organizational and project management skills;
  • Ability to serve as a knowledgeable and trusted resource to senior management;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Candidates must attain a passing grade on a SPEEXX English Language Assessment.


Your Work Schedule and location
  • The position is based at the Meliadine mine site. The work schedule consists of 4 days of work, followed by 3 days for transportation and rest, with flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
