The Suttie Group is working with a well-funded, Canadian mining company focused on the growth of its production, in Mexico.   The Manager of Engineering & Planning is responsible for:

  • Ensuring procedures and work programs are carried out by using their potential to the maximum to properly guide the operations to meet the production goals.
  • Compliance and management of capital investment, infrastructure and mine development programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop the young Engineering and Planning team, motivating and helping the planners, topographers, rock mechanics, ventilation and water pumping areas to grow.
  • Guide the mine operation through short, medium and long term plans utilizing the strategic vision of the company with the philosophy that mine operations is your client, and Engineering is there to guide
  • Maintain levels of information required between the Engineering and Planning departments.
  • Validate and authorize all the designs generated by the planning staff in relation to the operation of the underground mine, including mining and infrastructure works.
  • Review and approve the necessary geo-mechanical controls, designs, standards and support protocols.
  • Coordinate the planning team for the implementation and follow-up of measurement, control and statistics systems of the underground mine indicators.
  • With the Planning team, ensure the implementation of the best topographical practices for the control of the underground mine.
  • Actively participate in the development of short, medium and long term plans in a collaborative process that involves key stakeholders and results in realistic and achievable plans.
  • Manage and analyze mine costs and assist in the preparation of proposals and budgets.
  • Monitor the efficiencies of processes inherent to the operation (KPI's).
  • Monitor execution of plans and projects and generate alternative action plans and adjustments to ensure the continuity of operations when required.
  • Reconcile execution against plans to determine and understand how to improve the planning or execution process.
  • Maintain the proactivity of the Engineering and Planning team, in the search for continuous improvement and optimization of development and production plans.
  • Manage the capital investment projects of the mining operations, guaranteeing technical compliance and aligned with the scheduled investment times.
  • Support the development of safe work procedures from the technical point of view and support for the operation.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years as Engineering and Planning Superintendent.
  • 15+ years of experience in underground mining
  • 5+ years in leadership or management positions
  • Mining Engineer, civil or similar
  • Fluent in Spanish & Intermediate English

Software: Vulcan, Deswick and/or Purposes. Knowledge in Ventsim, Cad.
