POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Manager, HR and Community Relations, the Training & Organizational Development Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing efforts to improve the performance of systems, processes, and the self-fulfilment of employees through a variety of training methods and programs.

The incumbent will manage the processes and setting up of the Intelex system for document control and training records documentation, alignment and coordination and/or delivery of training and development programs for Magino Mine. The incumbent will source and coordinate training programs, processes and systems and will be responsible for accurate recordkeeping and reporting across the site. This role will work closely with all departments to ensure alignment in our systems and processes for training and tracking in the Intelex system, and to develop and/or source learning programs that further the training and professional development of all employees.

As this is a start-up position, the successful candidate must be able manage the Intelex system and create and/or oversee the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs for the Magino Project Operation.

MAGINO MINE:

The Magino Project is a brown-fields site located in northern Ontario, Canada that contains an historical underground gold mine, and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Corporation has conducted a Feasibility Study during 2017 that examined mining the deposit using conventional open pit mining methods and extraction of gold from the ore using a 10,000 tonnes per day carbon-in-pulp ("CIP") mineral processing facility. When developed, Magino will produce around 150,000 ounces of gold during the first five years of production. The project has over a 15-year mine production life (including one year of pre-production).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Through the Intelex system, develop methods for data file formatting, data analysis methodologies, and management reporting for training, safety, and related areas.
  • Identify data collection tools, data sources, benchmarks, and performance targets.
  • Have ownership of site orientation, safety training, leadership training and other trainings that are overarching in all areas of the operation.
  • Work with and assist in coordinating all required training & development programs for all departments of Magino Mine.
  • Create and implement programs at work that connect employees with business goals.
  • Consult with management and other leadership to identify business processes.
  • Identify and evaluate business initiatives to ascertain appropriate programs that meet company goals.
  • Create effective strategic planning methods.
  • Implement organizational effectiveness interventions.
  • Create competency models.
  • Develop team-building exercises and workshops.
  • Assist employees with creation of project timelines and deadlines.
  • Implement major changes in all aspects of operation.
  • Communicate with management to identify specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
  • Develop methods of measuring if performance management aligns with organizational goals.
  • Resolve conflict within groups.
  • Diagnose potential organizational problem areas.
  • Recommend training and development systems.
  • Create definitions of desired individual or group performance.
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to safety is required. This is seen through work habits, one on one discussions, and throughout the workplace behaviours.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education is preferred in Human Resources or related areas.
  • 3-5 years' experience in training and development, online or in-person learning systems, human resources or other relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a heavy industrial/mining environment is desirable.
  • Proven competency in Training and Assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is a requirement, experience with database systems preferably Intelex is desirable.
  • Understanding of the training requirements for surface mining operations is desirable.
  • Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.
  • Work proficiently in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the operation.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Desire to develop HR skills and to be cross trained in additional HR activities.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The role is located at the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will ideally work a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off (10-hour days).
  • Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours, and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
