Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will in this highly visible position, work with various Project Management team members from different projects to manage the engineering, procurement, and startup of complex heavy industrial EPC related projects and have direct owner relations responsibility. The Senior Project Manager will also provide oversight on assigned estimating projects and carry the overall ownership of the estimate once the job is won and moves to production. Should be comfortable juggling several projects at once and with the occasional quick turnaround as this is a hands-on position. Responsible for the engineering, procurement startup oversight for EPC contract values in excess of 300 million dollars. Manage operations through estimates, proposal, award, design and start-up. Team building leader, with strong planning and organizational skills; adept in engineering and operations including design, contracts, negotiations, estimating, project controls, and dispute resolution. Tasks include reviewing performance guarantees, engineering fee estimates, project progress reporting, and have the ability to identify and put a plan in place to address where a project needs additional focus. Managing and motivating staff to maximum productivity and cost control, as well as facilitating and conducting scheduling, safety, and training meetings/workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope or work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood;
    • Projects include both engineering design as well as construction execution. Expect to be involved with projects from the concept/bid/planning phase through final execution, start-up, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee all project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs.
  • Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to Project Managers and engineers to promote employee development.
  • Oversee engineering fundamentals and practices to track and budget progress with project milestones.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, or similar type experience in a related position that provides the knowledge and experience required for this position
  • Possess 15 plus years' experience in managing engineering, procurement, construction and of mining and mineral processing facilities.
  • Prior experience serving as Project Manager, Startup Manager, of multidiscipline teams, where responsibilities include construction, procurement, engineering, estimating, contracts management, and owner relations
  • Knowledge of principles of complex EPC project design, analysis, and planning
  • Knowledge of EPC standards including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines and subcontractors
  • Proficiency in planning and management of scope of work and time estimation
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills at the executive level
  • Ability to travel based on business needs

Base Compensation: 170,000 - 250,000
