The Role

We are seeking a Superintendent Fleet Services for a residential position at Lihir Gold Limited in Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Manager - Fleet Services you will take ownership of the department consisting of Light Vehicle Maintenance, Ancillary Maintenance and Fabrication workshops. You will have significant exposure in leading teams and previous experience developing a driven, collaborative and inspiring teams.

Production Accountabilities
  • Ensure compliance with fleet maintenance strategies and statutory requirements.
  • Approval and monitoring of weekly maintenance schedules ensuring capacity planning and schedule compliance objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct workplace inspections on a regular basis seeking Safety, Quality and Efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Management of full lift cycle of assets including capital funding process, procurement and disposal of assets.
  • Management of outsourced work to ensure minimal variation on agreed quality, duration and costs.
  • Manage the contracted vendors to ensure regular reporting against and compliance to KPI's.

Cost Accountabilities
  • Actively participates in operational and capital budget development
  • Delivers work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process.
  • Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities.

Technical Accountabilities
  • Work in accordance with PNG Mine Safety Act, Newcrest Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and Newcrest Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.
  • Ability to negotiate commercial terms with diverse stakeholders (essential)
  • Strong understanding of business processes and the ability to apply system improvements for efficiency gains

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • 5 years relevant work experience essential in managing vendor contracts preferably within a mining environment or related industry.
  • Trade qualification or equal
  • Diploma or certificate in business management (desirable)
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite including MS Word & Excel.
  • Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with SAP


Mobilisation Requirements:
  • This is a Residential role at Lihir Gold Limited, 5 days on 2 days off roster
  • Ability to provide/obtain valid PNG national police clearance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
