Environmental Advisor - Contaminated Lands

NEWest Alliance is a multidisciplinary collaboration between CPB Contractors and Downer, working with the Public Transport Authority to deliver two projects (Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link) as part of METRONET.

As a Environmental Advisor reporting to the Environment & Sustainability Manager for Downer, based in Bibra Lake, you will be part of a supportive and collaborative team of environment and sustainability professionals responsible for supporting our construction operations. We are seeking talented, motivated and enthusiastic professionals that are keen to progress their career on a one of Western Australia's largest infrastructure projects.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Undertake site inspections and audits on environmental performance to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • respond to incidents;
  • Provide contaminated lands management guidance, advice and assistance the project team
  • Help to create and support a climate that encourages environmental and sustainability innovation and receptivity to implementing environmental and sustainability initiatives that are aligned with the environment and sustainability strategy
  • Assist the site Environmental teams and the Environment & Sustainability Manager with monthly and quarterly client and other stakeholder reporting requirements;
  • Assist in the development, implementation and deliver Project environmental inductions, toolboxes, training and awareness;
  • Maintain project environmental registers, aligned to permitting and approvals, waste management and other project requirements

ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in environmental management
  • Experience in environmental monitoring (highly desirable)
  • Sound understanding of Western Australia Environmental Legislation with proven ability to review and interpret relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice
  • Effective time management skills including ability to work to project deadlines
  • Demonstrated effective on-ground problem solving techniques and skills especially as it relates to delivery of environmental outcomes
