Underground Chief Mine Engineer

Responsibilities:

•Providing and coordinating effective Strategic and Long Term (LOM) mine plans and schedules to keep operations on budget targets and within the long-range plan

•Lead annual life of mine business planning activities including all aspects of mine design,

scheduling and costing for underground and surface operations

•Spearhead Deswik changeover from Promine and Vulcan, training engineering staff in Deswik as

required

•Analyzing, reports and making recommendations on mine operating performance, ways to

improve performance, promoting operating/capital costs reductions, reducing waste and

operational delays

•Ensure all reporting is accurately submitted in a timely manner and complies with all state and

federal regulations

•Facilitate mining studies and technical reports as required for sustaining and capital projects;

•Coordinate all production and engineering activities which will include backfill, ventilation,

utilities (air, water, power), QA/QC, ground support engineering

•Work collaboratively with mine operations and geology department and assist other functional

areas to achieve their objectives, and to ensure safe and efficient mine operations

•Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

•BS/BE degree in Mining Engineering

•7-10 years of post-graduate experience in underground mine engineering; preferably in hard

rock mining

•Experience with 3D modeling and mine planning software, specifically Deswik

•Theoretical and practical experience in ventilation and ground control is essential

•Skill in written and verbal communication (English), critical thinking, data analysis
