POSITION SUMMARY

Downer Group has a fantastic fixed term opportunity for a Junior Project Engineer to support our Perth based team in Facilities and Asset Services and Power and Energy. The scope of work is to provide engineering support and assist with the delivery and timely execution of Project work - both new and sustaining capital ensuring that contract requirements are being met.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Provide support functions across Zero Harm, procurement, quality, IR, HR, commercial, risk, project controls and cost processes in accordance with the Project Management Plan and subsidiary project plans
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports as required
  • Management of subcontractors as required
  • Engage with the Client / Stakeholders; Relationship building, Risk & Opportunity identification.
  • Support the maintenance of project controls, progress and performance management, productivity measures, completion status, and project completion against planned outcomes as defined by the Contract Manager
  • Support development of quality plans and documents in accordance with the relevant project, statutory and legislative requirements
  • Assist with project and procurement planning
  • Site travel / time on site will be required from time to time to ensure the deliverables are being met (the frequency will be dependent on the stages of the projects)
  • Manage and implement plans and project scope.
  • Prepare scope of works, estimates and quotes.
  • Review monitor project performance/trends and provide recommendations for improvement and growth.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking applications from electrical and mechanical project engineers with strong experience developing and managing project schedules.
  • Trade or Tertiary qualification in Engineering/Construction or similar is desirable
  • Formal qualification in project management or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Minimum 1 year + experience within the industry, particularly within industrial sector
  • Exposure and experience with project planning, execution and deliver
  • Sound experience within client engagement strategies
  • Strong industry, process and operations skills and knowledge.
  • Sound commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of and competence in OHS legislation, principles and practices
  • Proven ability to forecast project schedules and determine variations
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Sound negotiation skills in dealing with customers and employees, with ability to influence.
  • Sound understanding of the commercial drivers of the business.
  • Sound values with high integrity.
