District Overview

We offer a variety of engineering services, including owner's engineering, project development, detailed engineering and design, construction management and plant services. We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

Location

This position is based out of Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

• Design and draft intermediate electrical drawings.
• Properly size cables and raceways.
• Perform layout of electrical equipment in electrical buildings.
• Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills.
• Checks and navigates in the 3D models for interferences and constructability.
• Routes electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule
• Perform calculations to check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements and size pull boxes.
• Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements.
• Little to no supervision required to apply standard correctly to design.
• Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization.
• Seeks feedback and uses it effectively.
• Identifies changes in the scope of work during a small project and produces design changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
• Takes initiative to meet or exceed the quality and expected outcome requirements of internal and external customers.
• Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
• Complies with company standards to produce quality deliverables.
• Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion utilizing engineering documents, sketches or vendor data.
• Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
• Participates in project meetings as required.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years' experience in Design and/or Drafting disciplines with a background in electrical design
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design preferred; minimum GED Diploma with drafting or electrical design training
• Experience utilizing 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or SP3D and have knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
• Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
• Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment
• Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language
