Role Details:

Reporting to the Manager: Mining Engineering, you will lead a team of mining engineers to provide long term planning and strategic direction for the Granny Smith and Agnew operations. The position is responsible for the delivery of strategic planning, Reserve and Resource reporting and progressing the project pipeline (delivery of scoping, prefeasibility and feasibility studies) to achieve sustainable and value objectives. Working with the site teams, this role will also be required to deliver optimal medium to long term plans as part of the Business planning process.

The role requires underground and open pit technical and financial expertise to identify, prioritise and deliver performance improvements, generate asset growth, and integrate emerging technologies into life of mine plans to deliver on ESG targets. Close collaboration and effective communication with the site, regional and corporate teams will be required to maintain alignment between the planning horizons. The role requires a leader who will drive a high-performance culture, ensure timely delivery of quality work, and use their influence across various disciplines and levels within the Business to facilitate engagement and decision making.

This role is offered on a combined Fly in Fly out to Site/Perth Office arrangement and is offered on a roster comprising of 5 Days On 2 Days Off Monday to Friday (8 hours - Perth), 4 Days On 3 Days Off Monday to Thursday (12 Hours - Site), 5 Days On 2 Days Off Monday to Friday (8 Hours - Perth). Flexible working arrangements are available after a qualifying period for the right candidate.

About the role:
  • Prepare and deliver the annual Reserve and Resource (R&R) reporting to SAMREC requirements including the technical and financial work to support inclusion. Identify and actively work to replace and grow the Reserve base and extend the life of mine;
  • Prepare and deliver annual strategic plans which align with the regional and operation's strategic vision and values;
  • Identify and progress the project pipeline to ensure scoping, prefeasibility and feasibility studies are completed on time, ready for site implementation and aligned with the capital approval framework and study guidelines;
  • Work collaboratively with the sites to identify opportunities and successfully integrate operational improvements into the life of mine plans;
  • Develop and maintain adherence to appropriate planning procedures and processes for studies/projects, R&R and SOX compliance;
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high quality, has the appropriate level of detail, is correct, complete and delivered in a timely manner;
  • Manage and develop a team culture centered on quality, delivery and engagement. Identify key capabilities and skillsets to develop personnel and meet the business objectives;
  • Establish strong relationships with site, regional and corporate personnel to influence and inform on technical matters and strategic decisions or direction;
  • Develop strong networks with operational personnel and supporting departments to ensure effective communication, information transfer and efficient preparation and execution of plans, projects and studies.


About you:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years' technical and operational experience
  • Exposure to various mining methods and operating strategies
  • Ability to demonstrate practical operational experience and the application of technical processes
  • Demonstrated capacity to influence and manage teams
  • Proficient in mining software such as Deswik, Whittle, Xeras, Datamine and Microsoft Office
  • Member AusIMM
