Job Description:

Working a four (4) day on three (3) day off rotation or an (8) day on six (6) day off rotation at the mine site, the successful candidate will be responsible for taking the lead role in overseeing all aspects of the short and long-term mine plans of the operations. The incumbent will maintain the quality of mine plans and schedules as well as monitor the progress of the operations.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the calculation of ore reserves, providing technical support to the underground operations in areas such as mine design and planning, ventilation, surveying and ground control and ensuring compliance of the life of mine plan and budget and execution of mine programs
Coordinate all aspects of the mine program including, EIT and Co-op programs, LOM I planning, compliance of the LOM I, and stope reconciliation
Responsible for the calculation of ore reserves
Control costs with respect to mine design and engineering to maximize efficiencies by implementing approved recommendations
Recommend alternatives procedures, methods, and policies to improve performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures with respect to engineering practices
Analyze data and prepare technical reports to assist in the decision making process
Analyze data and issues with respect to mine design and planning
Oversee the preparation of technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements
Ensure the reconciliation of mine with mill data and mine with reserves data
Manage databases and review data for production and reconciliation purposes
Produce weekly and monthly reports estimating production and development as required
Responsible for recognizing mine design and plan inadequacies and recommending and implementing improvements to mine design and plan
· Responsible for the Technical Services group budget and underground capital forecasts
Ensure that all quality control systems are in place and operating at peak capacity
Continue to monitor the engineering functions at the mine to maximize the operation's performance
Ensure that all necessary reporting and compliance needs are met in a timely fashion
Provide training, mentoring and development opportunities to the company's staff to the technical team
Ensure that engineering design is in accordance to good engineering practice
Ensure that engineering design is in accordance to applicable legislations and regulations
Coordinate activities of the Technical Services Department according to operational objectives
Communicate engineering priorities to other departments

Qualifications:

Education & Training
Bachelor of Engineering in Mining, Geological or Geotechnical
Professional Engineer Designation
A minimum of +10 years of underground operations experience
Administrative Skills
Work well under pressures, high attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Proficient with technical software, project management and technical writing. Expertise in budgeting and ability to present important information.
Interpersonal Skills
Active listening and leadership, ability to motivate and foster an environment of teamwork. Strong and effective communication skills.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an office environment, keyboard and computer mouse. Some exposure to the mine, walking both in and out of doors. Prolong sitting.
Safety Responsibilities
Compliance to Impala Canada safety, health and environmental policies and systems. Assure adherence to the highest standards of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for myself and my team.
