Position summary
We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Services Division based in North Ryde, Sydney or in Melbourne. Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing transactional legal support services across multiple business units in Downer's Australian Operations.

Your role will be offering strategic advice, legal services, guidance and support to bid teams, including interfacing and negotiating with Downer customers. You will also provide legal support to project governance initiatives and, where required, report to project governance bodies/forums.

ABOUT YOU:

• Current practising certificate with 2 - 4 years for the legal counsel role and 7- 10 years for the senior legal counsel role of post qualified experience ideally within Construction, Infrastructure or Services sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear and succinct advice which synthesises legal and commercial issues in a form suitable for an executive audience and capable of forming a basis for executive commercial decision-making
• Experience in advising on complex transactions and project delivery issues in the sectors in which Downer operates
• High level communications skills including the ability to distill complex issues/ideas into clear and understandable propositions.
