Position Overview

Working as part of the Surface Mining Team, the Equipment Operator - Road Train will report to the DPRT Team Leader and work on a two (2) week on, two (2) week off rotation at the Ekati mine. The Equipment Operator - Road Train will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the road train ore haulage unit in a complex surface mining environment. The successful candidate will work in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the road trains;
  • Operate other mining equipment (loader, grader, crushing operations), as required
  • Effective communication using a 2-way radio system;
  • Successfully use an electronic production data collection system (WENCO);
  • Maintain equipment integrity and complete job hazard analysis reports and equipment log books;
  • Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent;
  • Air Brake Certification from a Canadian Province;
  • Class 1 (Alberta or BC) or equivalent operating license (on highway tractor/trailer combination);
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience operating B-Trains, logging trucks and/or road trains (on or off highway);
  • Working knowledge of an electronic production data collection system (i.e WENCO) and basic computer literacy, with a willingness to learn new computer skills
  • Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred

Additional Information

Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
