Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Underground Engineer I at our Turquoise Ridge operations. Responsibilities:

  • Rotation assignments within the Technical Services Group which may include mine planning, geotechnical engineering, ventilation and construction engineering, project and cost controls, survey, geology, and operations cross-training.
  • Participate in Compass I professional development program: underground module
  • Conduct inspections and audits, identify potential safety hazards, devising controls and action plans, and issue corrective work instructions as required.
  • Promote safe working practices and contribute to the development of policies and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or related field required
  • Entry level to several years' underground mining experience is preferred
  • General understanding of underground mining operations required
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Familiarity with mine design and planning software packages (Vulcan, Deswik) preferred
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Effective technical communication, presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills (written/ verbal and analytical/ persuasive) required
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperate and work effectively as part of a team required
  • Willingness to cross-train with operations and geology required
  • Flexibility in work hours for on-call and callouts, as needed required.

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks. In addition, Barrick's Goldrush-Fourmile project has the potential to become the fourth Tier One asset in this portfolio. The new JV is expected to generate around $5 billion in cost savings over the next five years. Nevada Gold Mines is operated by Barrick.
