Job description:
First Quantum Minerals is one of the world's biggest mining companies, employing over 20,000 people.
Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation is our flagship operation in Australia. Located on the beautiful south coast of Western Australia, we're just 20 minutes from the coastal community of Hopetoun. As a major nickel producer and exporter, we aim to ship up to 30,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate each year via Esperance Port.
Role Purpose
To coordinate and deliver compliance and technical training programs to employees and contractors aligned to company and legislative requirements, whilst also providing effective training solutions to key stakeholders.
The Training Officer will hold a key position in the Training Team and will be integral in contributing to the ongoing growth and direction of the Training Department.

    Key Accountabilities
    • Implement, drive and support training framework aligned with industry, legislative standards and FQM policy and procedures;
    • Partner closely with relevant business areas to ensure all training and development is prioritised appropriately whilst aligned with organisational goals and objectives;
    • Support internal and external vendor relationships while continually assessing and exploring opportunities for improvement;
    • Monitor and manage company safety systems, report, action and implement initiatives when required;
    • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned;
    • Manage and drive quality controls ensuring compliance against relevant requirements included in FQM policies and procedures;
    • Support and manage employees engaged in workplace work place programs including Leadership, Apprenticeships, Vac, Grad, Entry Level Operator, etc.
    • Manage and support processes for the ongoing tracking and reporting of training.
    • Provide key stakeholders systems training appropriate to their role requirements.
    • Develop, maintain and review departmental documentation as required.
    • Facilitate training workshops, corporate programs and external programs when required.
    • Record learning and maintain administration of the learning management system, including data integrity, audit requirements and reporting.
    • Coordinate and deliver training/VoC's/assessment for contractors arriving to site for planned or unplanned work.
      Skills, Knowledge and Experience
      Essential
      • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a training role with proven skills in training delivery and co-ordination.
      • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the mining, processing or related industry at a similar level.
      • Qualifications in Workplace Training & Assessing TAE40110 or TAE40116.
      • Knowledge of relevant mining legislation, standards and practical experience in their application.
      • WA Manual Drivers Licence.
        Desirable
        • Hold relevant qualifications in either Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical, Certificate III Engineering - Fabrication or Certificate III Process Plant Operations.
        • High Risk Work Licences.
        • Experience in permit to work and other relevant safe work systems.
