About the Role

Your main responsibilities as Graduate Asset Engineer for Thiess North America Business Unit are:
  • Assist in the evaluation, justification and procurement of assets required for mining services.
  • Development and maintenance of plant rates and supporting data in accordance with Thiess policies
  • Implement asset specifications with engagement from stakeholders.
  • Ensure the on-time delivery and commissioning of new assets and other designated project deliverables.
  • Verify compliance of assets to Thiess safety standards, technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain reporting to support asset function including fleet mechanical and financial status.
  • Support team execution of fleet relocations including planning and support.
  • Short term project management for technical projects.
  • Sourcing of asset information to develop and maintain plant costing data including quotes and part pricing. Development of plant rates for new tenders, asset transfers or lifecycle analysis. Compilation of tender budgets for asset operational aspects including mobilisation/demobilisation and infrastructure. Analysis of monthly asset performance data.
  • Supporting business initiatives through technical and business improvement projects. Implementation of Thiess and statutory safety requirements on equipment on processes. Machine performance analysis and continuous improvement initiative execution.
  • Capital and disposal planning and processing. Support the compiling of budgets for the asset function. Maintenance of new capital delivery schedules. Carrying out monthly idle and movement reporting.
  • Consistently maintain behaviours that set an example and clearly demonstrate the Thiess values; Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Encourage employees to embrace a work environment free from discrimination where everyone is included and treated with respect.
  • Collaborate with Asset Team to ensure compliance in accordance to all the relevant legislation and strive for beyond compliance. Assist in the implementation and compliance of the Safety Health and Environmental Plans to ensure safe and sustainable mobile plant and ancillary equipment. Provide support as required in all incident investigations to ensure the root causes are identified and that all the required documentation is reported. If applicable, play an active role in implementing corrective actions in consultation with relevant parties.Constantly look to identify hazards and risks through regular inspections, audits, behavioural observations, JSEO's as per HSE targets and review team member JSEO's, where required, take corrective actions.
  • Liaise with all internal stakeholders to enhance coordination between departments and minimize interruptions to operations by maintaining strong working relationships with relevant personnel. Communicate detailed plans for scheduled activities and deliveries to Maintenance, Mining and Technical Services departments on a weekly basis. Coordinate with the offsite and regional maintenance team to ensure best for business outcomes are achieved. Promote prosperous healthy client relationships to network and identify new business opportunities.


About you
  • Tertiary qualified in technical discipline (Mechanical Engineering).
  • Experience in mobile plant maintenance, preferably in an open cut environment, would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results within a team environment with minimal supervision at times.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.
