Purpose

Technical Services provides global support to Newmont and its operating businesses across a range of specialized technical functions. Technical Services expertise covers all key resource industry disciplines, including Resource Modelling, Reserves & Resources, Mine Engineering, Mineral Processing & Metallurgy, Asset Management, Operational Technology and Business Improvement, Information Technology, Supply Chain and Operational Support.
Within Technical Services, the Asset Management (AM) function is responsible for creating and implementing effective global asset strategies, delivering efficient asset planning and strategic insights to drive exceptional global asset performance across Newmont's portfolio. It aims to ensure that Newmont's asset management processes, systems and capabilities are a source of sustainable and considerable competitive advantage for Newmont. This is achieved by focusing on business process and systems standardization, proactive collaboration, competency and capability development, maintenance and reliability practices, relevant global productivity metrics and targeted value-adding asset lifecycle cost improvements. The AM function is focused on delivering value aligned with our philosophy of continuous improvement and rapid replication.

The Asset Management Operating Support Network (AM OSN) will provide subject matter expert (SME) and engineering support for global programs, such as Full Potential, Operate for Reliability (O4R), defect elimination, asset integrity and work management. The Fixed Asset Health Senior Manager will lead a global team of asset health analysts that centrally monitor and analyse equipment & operational data in order to diagnose and predict equipment health. This role will develop and prioritise effective solutions aimed at optimising equipment reliability and production.

This is a leadership role that draws on expertise as a people manager, strategic thinker, project manager, communicator, technical subject matter expert, and data driven problem solver. Key outcomes include:
  • Managing the execution of, and at times defining, strategic direction for Asset Health to monitor, coach and intervene based on analytical insights to maximize equipment reliability
  • Ensure asset health related improvements are rapidly replicated across the organization
  • Drive AM and reliability best practices and technical vision across Newmont portfolio


Essential Duties

Safety and Health
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in achieving a global Newmont culture of safety and health
  • Actively promote Newmont's safety standards and improvement initiatives

Analysis & Insights
  • Lead and develop a high preforming team of asset health analyts and hydrocarbon specialist, responsible for providing detailed equipment analytics and monitoring, raising work notifications complete with troubleshooting guidance, coaching sites to ensure work management process is adhered to and intervening to drive performance where necessary
  • Responsible for identifying new technology to drive insights and ensuring the connectivity and reliability of existing systems
  • Provide insights to centralized asset planning and site stakeholders to review performance outputs with recommendations on areas of continuous improvement and drive executable actions/insights
  • Maintain relevant dashboards and reports to measure, analyze and determine actionable insights which enable systematic improvements in AM processes and asset performance, aligned with global productivity metrics
  • Provide direction, input and oversight for global programs such as AM Systems, Data & Analytics, Innovation, Asset Integrity, DROM and Operational Readiness to drive asset health improvements

Collaboration & Rapid Replication
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with site-based leaders, condition monitoring personnel, and Mining/Processing/Fixed Plant OSNs
  • Lead regional Asset Health performance meetings with sites to provide insights and operational improvement opportunities
  • Drive asset health collaborative networks across the organization through regular regional collaborative forums and platforms

Team Leadership/Management
  • Drive competency program for asset health analysts, enabling career pipeline for site and central personnel
  • Develop operational expenditure forecasts and manage asset health capital expenditure
  • Establish and manage or asset health related contrats/outline agreements

Training & Experience

Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong understanding of fixed/mobile assets within mining or comparable industry
  • Strong understanding of specialised condition monitoring systems, i.e. AMS (MHM), Trakka, etc.
  • Intermediate level of SAP transactional skills (creation and querying of notifications, work order status, extracting history, etc.)

Experience:
  • Extensive experience and certifications in condition monitoring analysis roles, within mining or comparable industry
  • Proven experience in applicable leadership/supervisory roles
  • Advanced analysis of integrated data sources to determine corrective actions
  • Implementing online/remote condition monitoring systems
  • Application of Reliability and Failure Analysis tools, i.e. RCM, RCA, etc.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive performance improvement initiatives in a complex and global organization
  • Ability to manage tasks both in-person and virtually
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders across different sites, reigons and functions
  • Demonstrated ability to create data-driven business decisions
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the frequent out of normal office hours requirements of leading a global team and project
  • Ability to communicate project progress, both written and verbal, and strong project management skills


Working Conditions

  • The position is office based and can sit in Perth or Denver, Colorado
  • Position is required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites
  • Flexible hours required to accommodate global nature of work


The salary range offered for this role is $113,520-148,995. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
