Position Description:

Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Junior Mine Surveyor is an entry level position providing support to the mine technical team. Working autonomously this role will undertake the Survey Control, mark up and work instructions for underground development, production, and infrastructure activities. In addition to this, the role will work with the mine survey team to manage the mine survey as-builts (void models), conduct void scans, undertake end of month reporting, and install control points within the workplace.

This role does not require any previous experience and is a development role at Hemlo. A key part of this role is a willingness to learn and develop effective working relationship with stakeholders including the Operations team and rest of the mine technical team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist mine survey team in undertaking their daily tasks
• Install and maintain U/G control stations for development and production
• Undertake survey mark ups of development and production activities
• Installation of McGrath Lasers for development control
• Prepare layouts and mine plans for Underground mark-ups as required
• Creation of underground asbuilt void models of undertaken development and production
• Assist with month end reporting of mine actuals from created asbuilt models
• Provide survey control for infrastructure installations both surface and underground
• Assist with survey Re-traverse for QAQC of survey models
• Attend & contribute to weekly production meetings
• Compliance with the Barrick Regional Standards
• Account for all actions with the Barrick Core values being applied

Qualifications:

• College Technical certificate or related experience would be preferable but not necessary
• Experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as onsite training will be provided
• Ontario Drivers License
• Proficient in MS office
• Attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent Communication skills
• Leadership qualities

• Underground Experience in any role (desirable)
