Description

Semi-skilled employees, with basic skills in industrial maintenance activities. Will perform minor maintenance activities independently, with minimal supervision, or support journeymen in their maintenance activities.

• Assists with and safely performs repairs and preventive maintenance on large mining equipment, including conveyor systems, fixed plant rotating equipment, and pumping systems
  
• Assists with and performs quality preventative maintenance and repair work following established procedures
  
• Provides job information on work orders
  
• Works with existing resources to continuously improve processes and efficiencies
  
• Performs other duties as required
  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Preferred

• High School diploma or GED
  
• One (1) year of mechanical experience
  
• Heavy equipment operation
  
• Experience in overhead lifting devices and mobile forklifts
  
• Experienced in metal fabrication and welding
  
• Able to work in a team environment
  
• Knowledge of basic mechanical systems
  
• Working knowledge of maintenance manuals and print reading
  
• Demonstrates safe behaviors and safe work practices
  
• Have a working knowledge on use of shop equipment and hand tools

• Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
• Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day
• May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Responsibilities Maintenance Helper/Toolroom

• Maintain toolroom and cage
• Order and stock all PPE and parts needed for ISA/ELF maintenance toolroom
• Order all specialty tools and monitor inventory
• Maintain sign out log for specialty tools and equipment
• Maintain fire locker to keep up with environmental standards & maintenance needs
• Maintain hose/air lance area to keep up with production & maintenance needs (build hoses, air lances, hydraulic hoses as needed, cloth electrode hoses, copper finger hoses and etc.)
• Maintain welding equipment for maintenance needs (leads, stingers, welding rod, safety equipment, etc.)
• Weld mud-gun tips/Support building tapping machine parts
• Weld furnace Zinky dust tips
• Build furnace measuring rods
• Put together part packages for jobs/including bolts
• Maintain environmental satellite area (proper environmental waste separation, proper environmental removal when full)
• Assist with shop clean up
• Maintain bolt and piping bins
