Reporting into the Mining Superintendent / Alternate Manager, the Mine Surveyor will play a key role in the Havieron Project Team. In this fixed term contract, you will be accountable for ensuring accurate surveying of the greenfields site through the supervision and provision of data collection, analysis and reporting.

You will also play a key role in assisting mining personnel with the mine design, providing efficient delivery mine plans, and generating regular reporting to aid with contractor claims.

Our exciting Havieron Project

The Havieron Project has enjoyed tremendous exploration success over the past year, with future mining potential currently being assessed. The Havieron Project is the primary target of the Newcrest-operated farm-in and potential joint venture with Greatland Gold and forms a key focus of Newcrest's growth strategy. The Project is located in the Paterson Province, Western Australia, approximately 45km east of Newcrest's 100%-owned Telfer mine.

Who we're looking for

Our ideal candidate will have a degree or advanced diploma in Surveying or similar, have a passion for innovative technologies, and a desire to learn and grow. You will come from an extensive background in hard rock underground mining, ideally with experience working independently within a greenfields environment. Civil tunnelling, geotechnical engineering, and mine technical services and planning teams exposure will be highly advantageous. You will also have;
  • Demonstrated experience using 3D data (e.g., scan data) and mining software for surveying, production, geotechnical, planning or other applications
  • Experience with mining data management and mining software preferably Deswik
  • A relevant licence and experience with UAV and drone operations will be highly beneficial
  • Experience with Trimble GPS, Total Station and scanner (SX12, TCS7 and R8)
  • A sounds understanding of good survey theory and practice
  • Looking to gain Grade 1 authorisation in the future
